One of the beautiful ambitions for Brussels2030, the candidacy for European Capital of Culture, is to create more “us”. Wetopian Joke Quintens is an enthusiastic partner to the B2030 team with, among others, the design of the “Speak Up Brussels!” approach as one of the answers to the question: “How to co-create Brussels2030?”.
We aim to bring the voice of Brussels residents convincingly into the candidacy of Brussels2030 and, by extension, into the agenda setting of Brussels in 2030 and beyond. The emphasis here is on young Brussels residents under 30 – after all, they are the future of Brussels – but also on the entire society and the “story of place” of Brussels as a living system of all inhabitants and users in their environment.
Speak Up Brussels! collects the input of Brussels young people on what they think is important in the future of Brussels (in the form of “questions to the future”) and uses this input to work with a Youth Coalition representative of Brussels 15- to 30-year-olds in the Brussels Parliament to help set the agenda of Brussels in 2030 and of Brussels2030.
Platform Speak Up Brussels! (in collaboration with CitizenLab)
How do young people in Brussels see their future in 2030? Speak Up Brussels! is an initiative of Brussels2030 and gives a voice to the adults of tomorrow!
